Process Controls & Loop Tuning

Overview:

This is a 4-day course on Process Control & Loop Tuning. The first 2 days of class will focus on Process Controls, while the last 2 days will focus on Loop Tuning. Students can attend either 2-day session individually, or attend the 4-day course in its entirety.

Process Controls (Day 1 & 2):

The first 2 days of this course is for managers, engineers, technicians and others that have little or no process experience. Those in support areas will benefit from this course. A good course for those interested in advancing in the fluid processing industry, and those preparing for ISA or other certification examinations.

Loop Tuning (Day 3 & 4):

The second 2 days of this course is designed for those engineers and technicians who have the job responsibility to tune controllers. The procedures that the students will learn and practice will enable them to tune controllers to meet the needs of each loop.

This portion of the training will cover tuning methods that do not require calculations. The baseline method only requires knowledge of the type of process, and the trial and error method requires making small set point bumps and changing controller gain and reset to meet the desired loop performance.

It will also consist of open loop response testing and Lambda tuning to obtain greater loop accuracy, stability, and predictability. In addition to having lecture time, students will practice tuning on process simulation software.
